Election night in Royal Palm Beach: Why the wait?

Writer: The Beacon Today The Beacon Today

Royal Palm Beach voters gathered at their local polling precincts to cast their ballots on Election Day, Nov. 3.

Given this largely Democratic community, it’s no surprise that a majority of RPB residents followed the suggestions of the Democratic presidential ticket. Many of them either voted by mail or during early voting to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. However, a few people still waited until the last minute.

We spoke to these voters about why they waited to vote on Election Day and why they felt it was necessary to make sure their voice was heard, especially during this election season. With low voter turnout on Election Day compared to record-breaking numbers in early voting and national voter turnout, we compare our observations from election night to national data.
